What is ITTA
ITTA is the NASSCOM for Technical Textiles in India.
NASSCOM took Indian IT sector from $ 100 million to
$ 60000 million over the last 25 years.
We do hope ITTA also helps faciliate the growth for the TT
sector in a similar scale.
The only difference is – While NASSCOM was Outward
focused – ITTA is aimed at growing Indian Consumption for
Technical Textiles and thereby fuel its growth.
ITTA’s Vision
Roti ,Kapda Aur Makan ab Technical
Textiles Ke Sath.
NASSCOM- Roti Kapda Aur Makan –

The benefits of technical textiles will be felt by the common
man in his daily life leading to a better quality of life.
The usage of Geo textiles will be wide spread.
Agro textiles will be extensively used to improve crop yield and
conserve resources.
The use of protective textiles will be automatic thus protecting
our workers from hazards like their counter parts in the
developed countries.
The sector will provide new employment opportunities to our
youths and also help create entrepreneurs in the new
applications it brings forth
India to become a major product development and research
centre to develop new applications and products in the
technical textiles area.
The Indian landscape will be dotted with Awnings and textile
structures not only for aesthetics but also for their functional
benefits.

Auto- Segments where consumption
can grow without much govt
interventions.
Manual –Segments where govt
interventions are needed for boosting
consumption.
Way to the dream
Awareness
Legislation and Standards
Resources
Man Power Development
Adoption of new methods
Availability of inputs/products.
Technical Textile Building Blocks
Large
manufacturers
• Roll Goods, Fiber, Filament, Chemical
manufactures
Converters
End users/Society
• Fabricators,Converters,Solution
providers
• Domestic like homes or
organizations like
Railways,
PWD,Hospitals,farmers..
Next 5 years – Blocks to focus on
Converters
•Entrepreneur Development- e.g. USA has
more than 7000 fabricators …..
End
users/Society
•Awareness, Legislation
and acceptance of TT for
use in Daily Life e.g.
Geo/Agro/Protech/Medical
•Move from commodity TT
to High Tech. e.g. Tarps.
Market Entry - Routes
1.Oppourtunity in emerging area- New Business set up e.g. –
CTM in Agro Textiles
2.Diversification – Reduced dependence on basic textiles –
e.g. Arvind in Glass and Protect…..
3.Foreign Co to put up green field project – e.g. Ahlstrom
Dial “Mobile” for growth
• There is a lot of common points between Tech Textiles
and “Mobile Industry”.
• Tech Textile in India is at the stage where mobile phones
were in India at their inception.
• The mobile industry created a mantra of growth – THE 3
A MANTRA.
• Build -AWARENESS,AVAILABILITY,AFFORDABILITY
for rapid growth.
