Purpose of the Pilot
• Main Purposes:
1) Examine the quality of items so that PARCC can
build assessment forms for the 14-15 school
year;
2) Pilot assessment administration procedures,
including technology readiness; and
3) Give schools and districts the opportunity to
experience the administration of PARCC
assessments
• Purpose is NOT to assess student
achievement. Schools will NOT receive
student scores.

Administration FAQs
• Will there be a paper-pencil versions of the
assessment?
– No.
• May I change the grades or content areas for which my
school was selected? Can I add additional grades or
content areas?
– No. In order to collect representative data, schools will not be able to
change the tested grades or content areas.
• If a school was selected for the “PBA & EOY”
component, do the same students have to take both
the PBA and EOY tests?
– Yes, to help inform how the whole PARCC assessment is scored.
Therefore, it is important that the students selected for the “PBA &
EOY” component take both the PBA and EOY field tests and that the
same students take both tests.

Administration FAQs: Cont …
• How many classes will be participating?
– All classes in the designated grade will be participating.
• Will students with disabilities and English language
learners be included?
– Yes.
• Will the pilot be timed?
– Yes. Schedule two-hour blocks (or two and a half hour blocks for
literature analysis and research simulation task in English language
arts/Literacy PBA) for each session.
• Will we need to test all of our students at once?
– To be determined but schools should plan on having enough devices
so that all students in a particular grade could test all at once.
• Is the testing schedule set or would we be able to select
our testing date?
7/7/2015
– We’re still waiting on guidance from the state. If schools are allowed
to choose their testing date (within the window), we will be requiring
all schools to submit their testing schedule.
