Classroom Rules

Daily Warm Up
• Every day when students come to class,
there is a prompt on the screen for them
to answer.
• Warm Ups are collected at the end of
each week for a grade.
• Students that are absent can get the
prompts from my website or a friend.
Outside Reading
• Each six weeks, students are required
to read a novel from a specific genre
outside of class.
• Assignments for the reading must be
completed on time – no late work
accepted.
• Genres and due date are found on my
website.

Lone Star Reading
• Students that read six Lone Star
books and pass the test get to
participate in the Lone Star Party at
the end of the year.
Absent?
• Check my website for the warm up,
agenda, handouts, and the
assignment for the day.
• Make up any in-class reading
during morning tutorials or after
school.

Grade LA Late
Work Policy
• Students are given at least two days to
complete assignments.
• Assignments not turned in on the due date
will receive a 30-point deduction when
turned in the next day.
• Assignments not turned in the second day
will result in a teacher detention – before
school, after school, or during lunch.
Extra Credit –
Mural of Mistakes
• Find mistakes in print media
• Make a copy, highlight it, and be the first to
turn it in
• 5 mistakes can be turned in per six weeks
• 1 point is given for each mistake. Points can
be added to any low grade for that six weeks.
Extra Credit –
Hot Topics
• Find an interesting article, read it, and create
a thought-provoking question that could be
used for Friday’s Warm Up prompt.
