National Education Management Information
System (NEMIS) - History
Started in 1990 through UN’s financial and technical assistance.
 Mandated to be the national repository of education data, to act as the
standard setting agency, establish linkages and develop capacity of
Provinces/Regions.
 Since 1992, NEMIS is functioning in Academy of Educational Planning
and Management, Ministry of Education from Government funding.
 At the same time, Provincial/Regional EMISs established
 Published Pakistan Education Statistics on yearly basis since 1992-93


Methodology

Under the EFA initiative, 6 Goals with more than 65 indicators were defined.

Some Indicators from these have been selected after consultation with
stakeholders for Pakistan Education Statistics 2013-14

NEMIS uses the same methodology as defined by UIS in calculating education
indicators in the following international documents:


Non-Formal EMIS

JICA is providing financial support to all the Provinces and Federal
Administered units in Non-Formal Basic Education

Duration of this activity is 4-years (2015-2019)

Non-Formal EMIS will be established in NEMIS AEPAM

NEMIS will provide technical support in the establishment of the NonFormal EMIS in Provinces/Areas
