What is Translational Science?
The Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA) Consortium
The CTSA program supports a consortium of institutions that work
together to improve the way clinical and translational research is
conducted nationwide to enhance its efficiency and quality.
Translational Research Aims
o Apply discoveries generated in the laboratory and in
preclinical studies to the development of human
trials and studies.
o Examine cost-effectiveness of prevention and
treatment strategies.
o Enhance adoption of best practices in the
community and beyond.
UIC CCTS
Our goal is to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries
into innovative diagnostics and therapies, disease prevention,
improved health care delivery, with a special emphasis on
reducing health disparities.
The UIC CCTS…
o Serves as UIC’s institutional home for clinical
and translational research
o Seeks to break down institutional barriers to
enable the efficient conduct of clinical and
translational research
o Provides integrated navigation through campus
resources and services
The UIC CCTS…
o Aims to maximize innovation through the
promotion of team science
o Has a cadre of knowledgeable staff ready to help
you with your research study needs
