“Every breath you take will
eventually shorten your
life.”
By: T Vaughn
logos
What do you think
logos is?
 I think the logos of
this ad is that
smoking shortens
your life the same
way cigarettes burn
out when smoked. It
slowly dies out.

ethos
What is ethos?
 Many times you hear
experts say smoking
shortens your life bad
for your heath and so
on. this image shows
that.

pathos
What do you think
pathos is?
 I thought that the
image appealed to
fear in a way because
it gives you a visual of
what smoking is
doing to your life. And
to see how its
withering away is a
little scary.

Lighting
What do you think the
lighting of the does to
the picture?
 The darker side
represents death and
the lighter side
represents life.

color


What do you think the
colors do for this image?
I thought the dark plain
colored back ground
made the lighter and
taller cigarettes and the
sentence at the bottom
stand out more. The
colors also have a similar
effect as the lighting does
in the ad representing life
and death.
audience
Who is the intended
audience?
 I believe its pointed
toward smokers and
those who know
someone that
smokes.

Additional information

This photo was intended to inspire people to
quit smoking. I found it on a inspirational
website that had 15 or more ads just like it.
And each one was meant to be disturbing to
scare people into taking action.
