PING PONG
(Table Tennis)
• History – Ping pong is of English origin. It
was first played on dining room tables.
• It can be played with 2 or 4 players.
• To start the game you P.I.N.G. for serve.
• Equipment
– Ping pong table and net
– Paddles
– Ping pong ball

• Scoring
– A game consists of 21 points and you must
win by (2) points.
– A point is awarded to the team or person who
wins the rally each time the ball is put in play.
• Losing Points
– Failing to make a good serve except in the
case of a let serve.
– Moving the playing surface.

• Losing points continued
– Touching the playing surface with free hand
while ball is in play.
– If the ball touches a person on the volley.
– Volleying the ball out of turn.
• Rules
– The rules of singles and doubles are the
same except for the following.

• All serves must be made so they touch the server’s right half court
then the receiver’s right half court..
• The team serving first in any game decides which partner is to serve
first and the opponent decide which is to receive first.
• At the end of each (5) points, the one who has been receiving
becomes the server and the partner of the previous server becomes
the receiver. Continue this sequence until the game is over.
• If the score becomes tied (20-20), the server will change with every
point.
• Terms
– Let serve – a serve which touches the net and lands in the
appropriate serving area. (this is the only time a player may
reserve.)
