HOUSING STANDARDS
The following are some statements that
we have agreed about standards in
housing:
1. Housing should be like other housing in
the area and non institutional in
appearance.
HOUSING STANDARDS
2. We aim to keep housing for people with
learning disabilities in as small
developments as possible so that they
are part of the community and do not
appear as large distinct buildings.
HOUSING STANDARDS
3. Housing should be available that
enables people with learning disabilities
to be placed close to family and friends.
There should be good transport links
and local shops and amenities should
be accessible.
HOUSING STANDARDS
4. It is important to look at ways to
prevent isolation. This can be achieved
by looking at opportunities for people to
engage in a range of activities. There
is also the possibility of considering the
use of communal areas in certain
developments.
