Getting a Work Permit
If you are under the age of 18, most states
require that you have a work permit before
you can legally begin working. A work
permit establishes for the employer that it is
legal for a young worker to do the type of
work offered.

Writing Letters of Application
Writing a letter of application is like writing
a sales pitch about yourself. You must
convince an employer that you are the best
person to fill a specific job opening. Tell
why you are interested in the position and
what your special qualifications for it are.

Preparing Resumes and Cover Letters
A resume is a brief summary of personal
information, education, skills, work
experience, activities, and interests.
A cover letter is similar to a letter of
application and accompanies a resume.
Your cover letter should reflect your
understanding of the company and how
you may be able to meet their needs.
