Make your own bath bombs!
Humans have been using cosmetics for thousands of years! Cleopatra is even said to have bathed in milk to whiten
and soften her skin! Bath bombs are made of a hard packed mixture of chemicals, that effervesce or fizz when wet!
Ingredients:
How to do it:
1)
Mix the citric acid and sodium bicarbonate, really
well with a whisk! These two ingredients need to
be blended well or your bath bombs will be grainy
2)
Add a few drops of colorant – what colour will you
choose?
3)
Add some fragrance oil into the mixture – the more
you add the stronger the smell
4)
Spritz some witch hazel into your mixture but keep
stirring. When the mixture just starts to stick
together – it’s ready! (Add too much and it’ll
expand and grow )
5)
Put the mixture into the moulds – don’t wait too
long, or the mixture will harden. Pack the mixture
in as hard as you can – it’ll make the bombs more
durable!
6)
Wait a few minutes and then tap out your bombs
7)
You can now take your bombs home to enjoy – but
it’s best to let them air dry for 4 hours before using
them!

50g Citric Acid
100g Sodium bicarbonate
3 drops of colorant
Fragrance oil to personal
preference
Baths bombs use
the chemical
reaction that takes
place when a weak
acid (citric acid)
and a bicarbonate
base are mixed in
water. This makes
carbon dioxide,
which is what the
bubbles up
through the water
making a relaxing
bath even more
luxurious.
To make extra moisturising fizzy
bath bombs, you can add various
oils, such as sweet almond oil,
see the instructions for Moisture
explosion, for more information!
How it works?
The weak acid of the citric acid and the alkali
bicarbonate of soda are un-reactive when dry
but, react vigorously when dissolved in water.
Citric acid + sodium bicarbonate  monosodium citrate + water + CO2
