 Initially a Fencing Club
 Started by PJ Verona and Jillian Mahen
 NJ has the highest number of high school fencing programs in the country

49 boys’ teams and 49 girls’ teams
 Self-Funded for 8 Years
 Board supported
 Not all expenses are covered
 Fundraising efforts are essential!

Why Fencing?
 Fencing is a sport of etiquette and tradition. It builds Character, Resourcefulness,
Patience and Intuition
 Fencing demands considerable physical conditioning placing simultaneous demands on
anaerobic strength and aerobic endurance
 Fencing is a lifelong sport
 For the accomplished fencer, scholarships are available for elite fencers.

 You do need to buy your own uniform, glove and mask, which costs about
$200. The team has some for you to borrow during the season but owning is
better.
 It is RECOMMENDED you buy your own electrical equipment, also, if you
are going to make a full commitment.
