Welcome to teenSMART:
Program Goals
To encourage teen drivers to value safe driving
skills and habits
To help teens develop the skills and
understanding they need to emulate more
experienced drivers
To identify the major reasons that teen drivers are
so likely to be involved in crashes
To teach visual search skills that will help teens
identify hazards as they drive
To emphasize the importance and benefit of
anticipating trouble while driving
To discuss the risks of being involved in a crash,
and to introduce the concept of “cumulative risk”
To introduce the idea that “how you live is how
you drive,” and address lifestyle issues that
increase the risk of being in a crash
