The Public Works Administration (PWA) created on June 6 th 1933 authorized by President Franklin Roosevelt during the first 100 days in office It was an administration to put aside money for the construction of public works
Importance
It was the first system that distributed funds to different areas the Goal was to help the economy by creating more jobs This New Plan was the biggest of the Plans on improving the economy http://www.infomercantile.com/images/thumb/5/58/PWA-workers.jpg/800px-PWA-workers.jpg

President Roosevelt authorized the administration He hoped that by authorizing this, more job openings would be available Once said that “getting people to work is better than giving them handouts.” – He wanted to act, not sit by pretending to be busy
Afterwards
It lasted until March, 1939 Between 1933 and 1939, there were over 34,000 projects funded to be constructed It never helped the economy as much as expected http://www.encyclopediavirginia.org/img/display_media.php?mets_filename=evm000 00606mets.xml&resolution=lowres
Did it work well?

It didn’t last more than eight years Abolished after more factories were needed to produce war equipment Too much money spent on war efforts, and not enough to support the PWA
