Competency requirements
• Prescribed competencies
• 6 accounting competencies (one under each of the 5
sub-headings and one other from any heading)
• 6 compulsory communication and influencing
competencies
• 6 compulsory IT competencies
• 7 compulsory people, teamwork and leadership
competencies
• 11 personal effectiveness competencies

Core competencies = technical competencies
12 to be achieved
Can be achieved from a range of technical areas
6 core competencies must be achieved in one
technical area
• The remaining 6 core competencies can come
from any technical area including that in which 6
core competencies have already been achieved
• Exception = IT and accounting, core
competencies can be achieved in any technical
area

• Specialist competencies
• Continue on from the core area in which 6 core
competencies were achieved
• OR, continue on from the prescribed areas of
accounting or IT
• 5 specialist competencies to be achieved
• Cannot be achieved until 6 core competencies achieved
or the minimum requirement of prescribed
competencies (if IT or Accounting as specialist area)
have been achieved
