How did we come about?

Set up in 2005 after the establishment of the
Scottish Personality Disorder Network

Aim of the group was to develop a care pathway
to ensure that clients with a diagnosis of
personality disorder get the best available
treatment with existing resources.
Where we’ve been?

2006

“Snapshot” of the number of people with PD using the
service
 Results – 309 people, 1 in 4 of the total client population
 Many seen by more than one branch of the service, in
extreme cases by up to five.


Mapping pathways through the service

 Case note examination of “high service users”
 Aim to build “maps” of pathways through mental health
services



Guideline is designed to gel with but be separate from the
ICP and is about improving the local service
