GSM Challenges
• Many procedures that can be used in a 3D
block model cannot be used for GSM
models.
– These slides suggest ways to quickly locate
resources and routines that are available for
GSM models.
Go to Compass
On the compass menu
Under group – pick 5b- GSM Modeling
This applies a filter that will show only
Procedures that can be run on a GSM
Model
Now look at the description. See whether
You can find a procedure that offers to
Do what you need.
Look at the Procedure You Think
Will Work
Suppose I think that GSM Reserves looks like something I need
I note that the program name is gsmres.dat
Now I Look for Help with that
Procedure
I click the Help Tab in MineSight Compass and pick MineSight Compass Help
The Compass Help Menu Comes
Up
Two areas contain the
Names of procedures and
Details about what they
Do and what kind of input
They need to run.
If I Pick Procedure Help I Get a
Long List of Compass Procedures
I look for the name of the
Procedure I am interested in.
In this case gsmres.dat
Oh look here it is!
Click on it.
I Get A Run-Down on GSMres.dat
The Bottom of the Description Tells
Me Which Source Codes are Run
I can use these source code names to track down even more information
If I Pick Basis Program
Documentation
I can get information on
Specific source code
Routines.
Up Comes A Table of Contents with
Red “Hot Links” to Code Information
Now This Looks Promising
All the 700 series programs are gsm programs and down here at the bottom is an
Overview on doing gsm calculations.
