Food Legislation – Milestones in India
1899

1943 : Central Advisory Board for Central Legislation that brings in
uniformity throughout the country.
1954 : Central Legislation –
Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954.

1963 by FAO and WHO to develop food standards,
guidelines and related texts such as codes of practice
under the Joint FAO/WHO Food Standards
