Halloween Safety Tips

Costume Safety Tips
Wear make-up instead of a mask if possible
Choose bright colors or add reflective tape
Make sure your costume fits and is not too
big or difficult to walk in

Wear a watch
Be home on time
Make sure your parents know when
you will be home
Plan ahead – tell your parents where
you will be going

Carry a flash light
Don’t eat your candy while you’re out
Inspect your candy at home with an adult

Be careful when crossing the street
Walk on sidewalks
Walk on the left side of the road if there is
no sidewalk
Walk from house to house – do not run
Do not cross yards and lawns

Only go to houses with lights on
Walk in well lit areas
Avoid short cuts, playgrounds and parks
Never trick or treat alone
Walk with parents or friends
If you go without your
parents, remember to...
Trick-or-treat in
familiar neighborhoods.
Trick or treat in a
group with friends.
Get help from an adult at a
well lit house if approached
by a stranger….do not go
inside the house.
Never accept a ride from a
stranger.
If a stranger approaches you,
do whatever it takes to leave….
