Key Data Findings
In 2013, students reported that in the last 12 months,
approximately:
1/3 felt so depressed that it was difficult to function
Over 1/2 felt overwhelming anxiety and reported
‘Academics’ as being traumatic or very difficult to handle
Top three factors affecting individual academic performance:
- Stress – 35%
- Anxiety – 25%
- Sleep difficulties – 24%
Key Data Findings
In 2012 – Sexual Health
Almost 3/4 of students were sexually experienced
Almost 1/2 did not use a condom during last intercourse
Almost 1/2 of sexually active students had never been tested for STIs
Most students rated counselling about STIs being the most
important/applicable service
In 2013 – Sexual Health
1/3 of students reported not using a method of contraception the last
time they had vaginal intercourse
Key Data Findings
In 2013 – Alcohol & Health
Over 3/4 of students reported using alcohol within the last 30
days
Almost half of students reported consuming 5 or more drinks
in a sitting 1 – 2 times within the last two weeks or the same
number of drinks 3 – 5 times during the same time period
Students reported that, when drinking alcohol in the last 12
months, they had unprotected sex (24%) and did something
they later regretted (43%)
