Ground breaking ceremony attended by Senior dignitaries from both countries held on 19th December 2010 at Sittwe. 9 Progress made… contd. • Construction activity at Sittwe started in Dec 2010. • Consequent to relocation of terminal to Paletwa, preparation of DPR for New road section between Paletwa and Kaletwa has become necessary. • MEA has appointed M/s IRCON Infrastructure & Services Ltd. New Delhi as the agency for preparing the D.P.R. for the new road section. • Design and model testing of 300 DWT Barges has been completed. Selection of Yard is in final stage. Barges are to be built in Myanmar. 10 Progress made… contd. • Reclamation for backup facilities at Sittwe 96% completed, Construction of Rubble mounted Dyke 70% Completed. • Construction of Pile work at IWT & Port Approach Jetty at Sittwe 98% completed. Essar Projects has already expressed that they can complete the work within the scheduled time by mobilising additional resources subject to the receipt of above approvals without further delay. • Otherwise project may get delayed by another 6 more working months. 24 Thank you 25
