INITIATING CONTACT AT EVERY LEVEL
JROTC School Activities and Events
Teen Court and cadets of EVHS
AJROTC EVHS participated in the
annual City Parade of Lights on 14
December, 2013. This years theme
was “Miracle on Main Street.
Cadets assisted Carlos Baca and
Judge Salazar in building the
Peanuts cartoon float consisting Of
Snoopy and his Dog House.
Major Gonzales followed in his float
consisting of Snoopy, Woodstock,
Rudolf, Bumble, and cadets. The
event was a great success with 25
cadet participating from AJROTC
and two from CAP.
Congratulations to ALL let I Classes
for completing their 1st semester in
AJROTC. They are now old cadets
and receive their LET Certificate and
ribbon.
Community Event News
AJROTC and CVM CAP Collected 40
toys to donate to “Put A Smile on a
Childs Face” program for children in
the area who are less fortunate.
This toy drive is part of the AJROTC
citizenship curriculum for
conducting community service and
having cadets give back to their
community.
This is a lesson on utilize the four of
the seven Army values of self-less
service, duty to the community,
working towards an honorable
cause, and having integrity by doing
something good in their community.
Hornet Squadron News
LET IV ‘s will be conducted etiquette
training for all LET Class was
conducted from 9-13 December,
2013. Cadet LET IV’s prepared
lesson plans as part of JROTC
curriculum and taught a class in
teams of two between 1st-6th
periods.
On 20 December, 2013 LET IV
cadets get evaluated on conducting
the annual formal military Dining In
at “Joe B’s restaurant. Brigadier
General Juan Greigo will be the
guest speaker and members of the
EPS school board will be present.
Dinner will be stuffed sopapillas,
and cheese cake.
AJROTC Sports & Team Activities
Army JROTC at EVHS is putting
together a 5 man bowling team to
compete in the APS JROTC bowling
tournament on January 18th in
Albuquerque.
On 20 December members of the 30
AJROTC Rifle Team, Color Guard, and
PT Team earned their uniform tabs for
one semester of loyally participating in
team events.
AJROTC will be teaming up with Game
and Fish educators to conduct the
hunter safety course in the second
semester prior to conducting air rifle
marksmanship training for all cadets.
JCLC Summer Camp Update
Major Gonzales is attending the monthly
JCLC Summer Camp meetings in Santa Fe.
He will be the Camp Commander for JCLC
2014 schedule from June 20-27, 2014 at
the Onate Complex in Santa Fe. EVHS
AJROTC will again lead the way in setting
up the base camp and running logistical
support for over 400 cadets from around
the state. This will be the 6th year that
Espanola has EVHS-AJROTC has run the
Joint Branch summer camp.
JCLC OBSTACLE COURSE
Summer camp training will consist of
rappelling, land navigation, water survival
at Cochiti lake, marksmanship training,
obstacle course, leadership reaction
course, and other events. Camp will be at
the National Guard Onate Complex in June
at Santa Fe with 400 other cadets.
