Student dress code: No spaghetti straps or clothing that exposes the back
or midriff. No offensive/disruptive clothing. Must wear shoes appropriate
for play and PE.


Biking to/from school is allowed from 3rd grade and
beyond (use bike racks near flag pole).
Driving



Front of school (Sundance Dr.)- Drive all the way to the top
and make a u-turn and drive down the hill to drop off the
student.
Back of school (Chaparral Park)- Park at Chaparral and
escort child to school.
Walking


Front of school (Sundance Dr.)- use the crosswalk with the
crossing guard at Turtle Rock Drive.
Back of school (Chaparral Park)- this crosswalk does not
have a crossing guard so escort your child across the street.










Playground is monitored starting at 8am. Please do not drop your child off at school before 8am.
Front of school is monitored for 10 minutes after dismissal to ensure children are being picked up.
Early drop offs and late pick ups are documented by the office.
Tardy arrivals MUST check in with the office prior to going to the classroom.
Do not let younger siblings play on the school playground.
K and 1st grade, students are exchanged directly with a parent/caregiver at the front of school (near
flag pole) at dismissal unless teacher is informed differently.

Turtle Rock Community Park- provides afterschool care for 1st-6th grades (T-rock) (949) 724-6734 and
Kinder (Nature Center) (949) 724-6738
Turtle Rock Pre-School- provides afterschool care for 1st-6th grades including transportation (949)
854-7611
ACE classes- on campus afterschool classes (~2hrs 1X per week) in specific subjects like cooking,
chess, cartooning, etc. (volunteer opportunity)










Online funding for hot lunches- can add funds online at myschoolbucks.com
though there is a fee for this service OR use the envelope in the office
Hot lunch price is $3.25
Can see student activity and can set minimum balance alerts
Kinder- snacks from home required each day. The snack bar/hot lunch is NOT
available.
Grades 1-6: snacks/hot lunches are available for purchase every day at recess and
lunch. First ingredient must be whole grain and fat/sugar ingredients are limited.
2% milk, water and juice is also available. Special hot lunch days: Papa John’s
pizza and Pick Up Stix.
No microwave access to heat up food.
Nut free table available for children with allergies of any type. They may bring a
friend. Otherwise, seating is by classroom. Please try to avoid sending highly
allergenic foods if possible.
Wednesdays are fruit bar days- $1.25 per bar; proceeds go to help fund CIMI trip;
run by 6th graders
School supplies- PTA has provided school supplies for each student for the 20142015 school year
Field trips- PTA has paid for all school field trips (except for CIMI) for the 2014-2015
school year


School spirit day (every Friday)- spirit wear is available for purchase at the Fall Social
and using order forms found in the office
Back to school night (Sep 2 for kinder, Sep 11 for grades 1-6, parents only)














Why?
• To raise much-needed funds for Bonita Canyon (e.g. art,
music and PE classes, classroom supplies, Instructional
Aide time, computers, updating library)

• Friday, March 13, 2015 6:00 – 10:00 pm
• At Chuck Jones Center for Creativity in Costa Mesa
How?
• Takes an army of volunteers with many different talents
(e.g. data entry, getting donations, signs & decorations)
• Can donate as little as 1 hour, or as much as 100!

Lost and found- put out front regularly for you to
comb through, but thermoses and lunch bags are
thrown away if not claimed in a day or two due to
smell. Valuables are brought to the office for safe
keeping.
