“Voluntary State Curriculum”
Aligned the
“Technology”
Text book
with the
Voluntary State Curriculum
A team of teachers started to align the
Text with the VSC during the summer.
All teachers in the department helped
complete the project during a teacher
in-service.
VSC – Excel Spreadsheet
Excel Spreadsheet
Teachers may access the spreadsheet
to select the chapters they are
teaching and see which VSC
objectives correlate with the
chapters being taught and which
pages of the text addresses the

Ability Levels
Differentiating instruction for various
ability levels of students in mixed classes
The following are at least 10 ways we
currently differentiate instruction for our
students.
#1 Individual Teachers
Accommodating IEP’s & 504’s
#2 Resource Room / Instructors
#3 Drop out prevention specialists
#4 Behavioral Specialists / Instructors / Room
#5 Website with study guides and tests to accommodate
student constraints
#6 Involving the parent by signing
student progress reports
#7 Academic Detentions
Assigning students academic
detentions if they are failing
the course. It helps to keep
them on task and to pass
the class.
#8 English Language Learners
#9 Guidance
Student Intervention Program
#10 Teacher Projects
Students
who are advanced
and complete
their work early
spend more time on
special projects.
Movies, PowerPoint's, Websites
to help enhance and promote
their school.

Students Help Lead the Class
Obtaining the Objectives
Testing Time
It’s Electric / Ohm’s Law
Construction
Student Notebooks
I give students a notebook first day of class
Pencil kept in notebook for that class.
Paper in classroom for students to use.
(maybe issue for some counties)
Students can study using the website at
home, or take home their notebooks
Website
Parent night and conferences will
never be the same.
I have yet (knock on wood) to show
a parent the website and not hear
"This is how every class should be...
WOW!"
Lesson Development
We use the textbook
• Technology R. Thomas Wright, G-W Publishers
PowerPoint's – WCPS Bought disks for teachers
in the county from the publisher.
• Copyright notice for PowerPoint's of Goodheart-Wilcox
company, Inc.
“You may use the contents of this product to create
reproducible visuals, handouts, and other study
materials on a not-for-sale-basis. These presentations
may be edited and your own instructional materials may
be incorporated to align with your teaching methods”
I would guess most publishers follow similar
procedures.
Lesson Plan Template (1 of 3)
VSC Objectives met by the chapter
Daily Objectives tying into the VSC Objectives
Music/Song- Try tying in a current song to the chapter
• Engages Student
• Timing mechanism prompting teacher and
student that discussion (lecture) will begin
in approximately three minutes
• If two songs are played (one from a
previous chapter and one from current
chapter) You may prompt questions from
the first song prior to the lesson as a
review (seemingly painless to students)
Lesson Plan (2 of 3)
Picture of Current Instructor of a Program
offered in the school or County
Terms and slides tied into with minute film
clips (Teachers Domain, How stuff works)
/ Show students from the school or tech
high performing the tasks (Ex. Mr. Ferrar's
students making a silk screen shirt)
Career tie in - Prompt students as to
whether there is a Company in the area
they could obtain a job from after
completing the CTE Program tied in with
this chapter.
