Introduction

• Industry Reference Files are: – Centralized Files that Contain Information Critical to Many Railroad Functions • Official Data Dictionaries • Spell Checkers • Thesauruses • Provide Edits for Many Industry Applications • Industry Reference Files are Inter-Related © 2007 Railinc. Mark File

• A Mark is an Abbreviation Assigned to a Transportation Company • Also Called a SCAC – Standard Carrier Alpha Code • A Company Must be in the Mark File Before Stations can be Registered © 2007 Railinc. All rights reserved.

Mark File

• Types of Marks – RR Class I Railroad – RR2 Regional (Class II) Railroad – RR3 Local (Class III) Railroad – STC Switching & Terminal Railroad – PP Property Mark (Equipment Only) © 2007 Railinc. All rights reserved.

Centralized Station Master (CSM)

• Stations Must be in CSM Before Junctions are Registered or SCRS is Populated • Contains Geographic Information About Railroad Stations – Station Name – State – SCAC: Standard Carrier Alpha Code – SPLC: Standard Point Location Code – FSAC: Freight Station Accounting Code © 2007 Railinc. • Types of Stations – Operating • Physically Served by the Registering Carrier • No Revenue Waybills can be Issued To or From the Station – Revenue • Not Physically Served by the Registering Carrier • Revenue Waybills can be Issued To or From the Station © 2007 Railinc. All rights reserved.

Centralized Station Master (CSM)

• Types of Stations – Haulage: Served by a Carrier Through a Haulage Arrangement – Junction Settlement: Served by a Carrier Through a Junction Settlement Arrangement – Switch Carrier: Served by a Carrier Through a Switch Agreement © 2007 Railinc. All rights reserved.

Junction Interchange File

• Interchanges Must be on the Junction Interchange File Before Routes are Registered and Before SCRS is Populated • Junction Interchange File Contains all Junction Abbreviations • Abbreviations are a Maximum of Five Characters © 2007 Railinc. All rights reserved.

Route

• Route Master Defines Revenue Routes • The File Contains – Route Descriptions: SCAC for Each Carrier in the Route and the Interchange Points – Identification Numbers: 5 Digit Number plus the Origin and Destination Carrier © 2007 Railinc. All rights reserved.

Customer Identification File (CIF)

• Central Repository for Customer Data – Name – Physical Address – Mailing Address – Corporate Family Structure – Unique Identification Number for each Customer Location • CIF Data Must be Complete to Populate SCRS © 2007 Railinc. All rights reserved.

Shipment Condition File (SCF)

• Contains a List of Codes that Facilitate use of Rate EDI Network (REN) – Specify Equipment Types – Define Accessorial Services – Outline Annual Volume Agreements © 2007 Railinc. All rights reserved.

Serving Carrier Reciprocal Switch (SCRS)

• Contains Rail Served Industries in the US, Canada and Mexico • Lists the Appropriate Reciprocal Switching Charges Assessed • SCRS Contains Information from all Previously Reviewed Industry Reference Files © 2007 Railinc. All rights reserved.
