Setting up scanners
This is best done by your IT support people
Detailed instructions are in our Help section
If you have trouble, contact us at the Help Desk
([email protected])
Using GEDTS Answer Sheets
You can probably do what you’ve always been doing.
Make sure the ID Number on the tests matches the ID
Number in the record or on the demographic form:
Writing-in Test Name and Date of Birth is required.
Bubbling-in Test Name and Date of Birth is optional, but
recommended.
Mail in for processing
Scan on-site with supported Scantron scanner
Will NOT work with provided scanner
Student Registration
For us, “Registration” just means completing the
demographic form.
You can continue any procedures you already have in
place for other parts of registration, such as checking
ID and accepting payment.
Who needs to register?
Anyone who has never completed the demographic
form before:
New Students
Students that previously tested before 2002 (2004 for
Spanish/French).
Students transferring from out-of-state.
No harm in completing registration more than once.
“Change of Name/Address” form can be used if already
registered, but information is out-of-date.
Two ways to register:
Complete a paper demographic form
Mail this in with test answer sheets
Complete the online form on GED123.org
Email address required if student is unassisted
Email address is optional if Examiner pre-registers
student
Pre-Registration
Pre-registering students is a best practice
Information is more accurate
Students do not need to complete information on
answer sheets
Examiners will not need to proofread student
handwriting
Using NRSpro.com Answer Sheets
Pre-Register Students and print answer sheets
Keep blank sheets on-hand to deal with problems
Administer tests normally
Use BLACK INK on ALL tests (Multiple-Choice and Essay)
Why not use pencils or blue ink?
Scanners don’t read pencil or blue ink accurately
We recommend Pilot® FriXion® Eraseable Gel-Ink Pens
Mail-in for processing
Scan on-site with supported Canon scanner (provided)
Best Practices when using
NRSpro.com answer sheets
Use WHITE 24-lb paper instead of 20-lb paper
Never photocopy answer sheets or print the same sheet
more than once
Don’t mix-up the sheets
The serial number printed at the top left of the
Demographic form and Writing test form needs to be
the same on all sheets.
Don’t use sheets that print crooked, cut-off, or faded.
ALWAYS keep both pages of the Writing essay
Scanning on-site
Fastest results
No mailing cost
Lower scoring cost
Use the provided scanner or purchase additional
supported scanners for other locations
Correcting Student Records
It is not necessary to submit any forms or make a request to
the Help Desk
Examiners are authorized to make changes directly to
student records if they “belong” to your center
Chief Examiners can make corrections to test
information
Student records from another center can’t be edited
until the student has tested at your center
You can use the Name/Address change form if you don’t
want to hold edits until after testing
Test Session Rosters
We do not currently offer a built-in scheduling and
session roster function.
It IS possible to get reports by batch or test date range
Many centers use the student Notes for scheduling and
rosters
Policies and Procedures
Requests for more access or new users must be
approved by the state office
Transcripts for students transferring from out of state
should be sent to the state office
Transcript not needed if student has an Access Code
Contact the Help Desk for the Access Code if the student is
from one of these states:
Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, New Jersey,
Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, Wyoming
Updating Center/Site Info
Examiners can update testing center and addendum
site information on the Center Management screen
Center ID Number changes or new addendum sites
should be sent to the state office for approval
Merging Student Records
If the same student has more than one record,
Examiners can merge the records
Only if the student “belongs” to your center
If you are unable to merge, contact the Help Desk
Billing Procedures
You will automatically receive an invoice when
payment is due
The time varies based on testing volume
You can print invoices for payment at any time through
your Center Management screen
Common Mistakes
The “Official 2002 Transcript” should be printed on
paper purchased from the GED Testing Service.
Specific language if using Spanish or French version
Use “Examinee Test History” as an unofficial score
report
GED123.org is for student use ONLY. You should not
be registering students yourself on GED123.org
Pre-Register student on NRSpro.com and give student
printed “Registration Instructions”
