Licensing your business
Does your vehicle:
Have 8 passenger seats or fewer?
• Private hire driver, vehicle and operator licences required
from local authority/TfL
Have 9 passenger seats or more?
• Public Service Vehicle Operator’s licence required from
VOSA
We can work with you to determine the correct type of
licence required
Licensing your business
How do you operate your business?
For hire and reward
• Private hire licences required from local authority/TfL
or
• PSV standard operator’s licence from VOSA
Which local authority?
• Determined by where you take your bookings – must be a
physical premises
We can work with you to help you achieve licensing
Future licensing requirements
• The Law Commission has been tasked to review taxi and
private hire services in England and Wales
• Under current proposals limousines licensed by local
authorities/TfL will have to adopt national standards
• We will be shortly reviewing our limousine standards to
feed into this – we would welcome views from London
limousine operators
