Peter Klinger

Partner, Compensation and Benefits

Peter has more than 20 years of experience in the compensation and benefits arena, with areas of focus including accounting, income tax, and plan design. Peter consults extensively with public and private companies on myriad compensation matters including: ● ASC 718 & 740, APB 25- Accounting for Share-Based Compensation ● Section 280G/Golden Parachutes - Including change of control plans, severance benefits, and equity plan COC design ● Sections 409A/451 – Nonqualified Deferred Compensation Arrangement ● Section 83 - Taxation of property for services and many more. He also has experience consulting on compensation and benefit plan design and implementation for executive compensation programs and qualified and nonqualified retirement plans.

● 162(m) plan design and qualification Peter also speaks frequently to industry groups (i.e., FEI, TEI, NASPP) on various tax and accounting issues.

Prior to joining BDO, Peter was a senior manager in Ernst & Young LLP’s tax practice in New York and San Francisco also specializing in compensation & benefits.
