– Organized in 1935 in Roanoke, Virginia
– Approximately 325 volunteer EMS agencies,
rescue squads, fire departments and specialty
related agencies
– Over 18,000 members

The VAVRS has partnered with the Department
of Fire Programs and the Virginia Office of
Emergency Medical Services to offer cross
certification for all participants for EVOC and
Vehicle Rescue classes.

– Spring BOG Meeting
• Semi-annual business meetings at which each member
squad has one vote.
• The Spring Board of Governors Meeting will be held
April 2, 2011 in Charlottesville.
AVAVRS
• Auxiliary to the Virginia Association of
Volunteer Rescue Squads, Inc.
– Auxiliaries are originated to assist and support
their local squads.
– The AVAVRS has 6 district throughout the state.
Each district elects it own officers and hold district
meetings.
– The AVAVRS raises in excess of $700,000 per year
for their senior organizations.
VAJVRS
• Virginia Association of Junior Volunteer Rescue
Squads, Inc.
– The VAJVRS is the youth division of the VAVRS.
– The VAVRS believes junior squads to be the future of prehospital care.
– The Junior Association hold many competitions and social
events for it members.
– Junior District Meetings are at the same time and location as
the Senior District Meeting.
