Most widely used tool for teaching
fundamentals about business
transactions
Provides a good understanding of routine
accounting processes
Not realistic in today’s business world
where even small companies use
computers
SUA provides two options for computerized
systems:
Microsoft Dynamics - aimed at “middle-market “
companies
Peachtree - aimed at small business
▪ ~20% market share
▪ More difficult than Quickbooks for end users to learn
Quickbooks was Introduced by Intuit in 1992
80% market share in small business accounting
Advantages:
Easy to correct errors
Students often encounter clients that use
Quickbooks when they enter practice
Waren file is set up so that new items (eg:
customers, vendors, inventory parts) have to be
entered as students enter transactions.
Forms
Most daily business transactions are recorded on a
QuickBooks form, looks like a paper form.
Lists
Most QuickBooks forms are filled out by selecting
entries from a list.
Registers
Registers contain a record of all the activity in one
account.
Menu Bar: Access to all QuickBooks commands
Icon Bar: Access to QuickBooks Centers and on-screen
