• The Divisional Hospital of Bikaner Division situated at
Lalgarh was commissioned on 18.05.1967.
• It is a double story building consisting of 13 nos. wards,
ICU, OPD, Indoor, Operation theatre, Laboratory, X-ray &
USG, Dental unit, Chest Ward and Physiotherapy unit.
• The indoor patient capacity is 100 beds and approx. 300
patients are being treated daily as out door patients.
• The complete hospital is connected with backup DG
supply to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
• Water coolers with water purifiers have been provided to
facilitate purified cold water during hot summer period of
Bikaner.

• At the roof of the hospital, Solar water heater is
provided for kitchen & bathrooms of all wards.
• Total built-up area of hospital is 5316 sqm.
• Air conditioned area is 267.36 sqm.
• Non air conditioned area is 5048.64 sqm.
• Building operating hours per year is 8640 Hrs.
Energy scenario
• The source of Electrical Energy for hospital
is 11 kV supply received from JdVVNL
(SEB) at railway substation Lalgarh.
• The connected load - 210 Kw (2008-09)
- 215 Kw (2009-10)
• Average power factor - 0.99

Monitoring of Energy consumption
• Daily monitoring of Energy consumption by Energy
management group.
• Energy conservation week is observed every year in the
month of December.
• Activities during the week :Display of banners & posters in HQ office, Divisional offices & in workshops
at prominent places and locations.
Awareness programme by showing message on Home page of website.
Message on telephone.
Seminar on Energy conservation in divisional offices & workshops.
Essay, Slogan writing & drawing competition on Energy conservation at HQ
and divisional level.
Releasing of souvenir on Energy Conservation.
Organizing workshop on Energy conservation at major stations, colonies,
hospitals by Electrical supervisors.
• Distribution of GMs appeal.

• Adopt Cleaner and Eco - friendly Renewable Energy
(RE) sources on Railways.
• Striving to reduce specific energy consumption (SEC) by
continuously taking energy efficiency improvement
measures & minimizing energy wastages.
• To carry out internal and external Energy Audits on
regular basis to identify areas for improvement.
• Involvement of employees at all levels in the energy
conservation efforts.
• Extensive use of 3 star () & above labeled
electrical products/equipments.

Provision of T-5 Luminaries at Lalgarh Hospital Ward
• 322 nos. Energy efficient T-5 fittings were
provided in various wards and offices in
Divisional Railway Hospital, Lalgarh during
the year to conserve energy.

Other Suggestion for Energy
conservation
• Use of BEE approved star rated equipments i.e.
AC’s, fans, pumps etc.
• Use of electronic fan regulators.
• Use of occupancy sensors in offices/ halls.
• Use of natural light inside rooms as per ECBC.
• Solar air conditioners.
• Use of LED’s for corridor lighting, nights lamps,
indicators etc.
• Monitoring of MDI, Contract demand.
• Use of proper capacity of transformer.
