HAL : A MULTIFORME open archiv
Unique database … but… Plateforme for institutional archives

Plateform for the thematic domain Archive pour les thèses
Some examples
Reference tables used in Hal
Laboratories and institutions Authors Liste of scientific domains Reference table aligned on ArXiv for the concerned domains. The scientific classification is made by researchers and for them. To simplify the deposit we looked for a maximum of 2 levels containing around thirty item at the most for a discipline. Type of documents Reference contracts ANR, european projects List of journals 9
HAL a common plateform
Ensures Accessibility to full-text Permanent url for citation Long-term archiving Provides a greater visibility to international community Gateway to well-know databases Institutional repositories are automatically filled Maintains a consistent level of scientific quality Limit record capture And limit effort to a single specialized unit 10
Hal an open archive for researchers
Wide distribution of publications The dissemination of the publication is quick and immediate Services with high added value Managing list of publications for evaluation Sharing deposit with all co-authors from other institutions Epi-journals, conference proceedings… Single storage place Outside private (commercial) circuits Input for harvesting by any type of platforms (institutional, social networks…)
To conclude
Hal is adapted to the french situation (joint ventures of laboratories From a single deposit all institutions concerned may use the information and the datas Hal represents the complete créer of a researcher (change of laboratories in France or abroad, he has his « history » It is a collborative tool in which involve the personal of laboratories and university libraries.
