B)Do you think global warming is a big
problem? 4 marks
Give 2 reasons for your point of view
Environmental and Medical
B) Agree: Global Warming is a big problem
Because crops will fail and famine will become widespread
Because sea levels will rise and flood cities
More earth will become desert and not be able to support life
Disgaree:
Global Warming is not a big problem
Global warming is part of the normal weather cycles
Scientists will be able to discover ways to deal with any problems
It will make the UK able to grow lots of different foods
Other approaches are possible if valid

with fertility treatments and some do
not(8marks)
Environmental and Medical
C Explain why some Christians agree with fertility treatments and some do not (8marks)
Why some Christians agree:
It is good to use technology to support couples with the joy of children
They agree with IVF because they don’t believe life begins at conception
They agree with AIH because egg and sperm are from the mother and father
Why some Christians don’t agree:
They involve fertilisation outside of natural sex and God intended sex as his form of
procreation
IVF involves some embryos being discarded, this is the same as abortion
AIH involves producing sperm in ways not allowed by the Catholic Church
Other approaches are valid

D) All religious people should carry a
donor card 6 marks
In your answer you should refer to
Christianity
(i) Do you agree? Give reasons for your

Environmental and Medical
D) All religious people should carry a donor card 6 6 marks
Agree:
The body is not needed in the afterlife. It is the soul that is
immortal the body is not needed in Heaven.
Those who believe in resurrection believe God will not need
organs to raise the body
Leaving organs fulfils the Golden Rule, and is a way of loving your
neighbour
Disagree:
It interferes with the sanctity of life
It is playing God which is sinful
It encourages the sale of organs from LEDC’s to the West

Give 2 reasons for your point of view
Environmental and Medical
B) Do you think it is right to recycle? 4 marks
Yes
Greenhouse gases and CO2 are reduced
Without recycling some resources will disappear for ever
We use fewer non renewable resources when we recycle
No
Some recycling methods cause more pollution than normal production methods
Recycling costs people jobs because new things are not made
It is a waste of tie because not everyone will do it
Other approaches are possible

Environmental and Medical
C) Choose one religion other than Christianity and explain why some of its
followers agree with transplant surgery and some do not(8marks)
Some Muslims agree with transplant surgery because:
Islam aims to do good and help people
Some Muslim Lawyers have said it is allowed
The Muslim Law Council of the UK says Muslims can carry donor cards and have
transplants
Some Muslims don’t agree with transplant surgery because
Shariah Law says nothing should be removed from the body after death
Transplant Surgery is playing God which is a sin
Only Allah has the right to give or take life

D)Religion is the best way to protect the
environment. 6 marks
In your answer you should refer to
Christianity
(i) Do you agree? Give reasons for your
opinion
(ii) Give reasons why some people may

Environmental and Medical
D) Religion is the best way to protect the environment. 6 marks
Agree:
Christians have a responsibility for stewardship and leaving the world in a better
place than when they found it
Jesus taught that Christians have a responsibility to make sure the earths resources
are shared fairly
Christians believe that they will be judged by God on how well they have fulfilled
their duty as stewards of God’s earth
Disagree:
Many people think the job is so big only Governments can tackle it
The largest environmental agencies are non religious e.g Greenpeace
The UN feels that without a unified approach between governments and scientists
global warming will end in disaster.
Other approaches are valid
