Thursday evening is the Auw Wieverbal (Grandmother’s Ball) in Valkenburg! Dress up as you like, as a
Grandmother perhaps! The scenic town gets extremely crowded at this Carnaval music festival with great
Carnaval artists! From Maastricht: 10 minutes by train, 4x per hour.
MAASTRICHT 19.11-19.33 meetup in Maastricht railway station main hall. Before boarding the train to Valkenburg we
will cheer for the Blue Ship (carrus navalis) which will pass by at about 19.44. We take the train to Valkenburg of 19.59.
Meetup Valkenburg station 20.12 or at Walramplein (festival area).

MAASTRICHT 18.03-20.03 dinner at Frank´s flat / 20.03-00.33 pre-Carnaval party in Frank’s flat at
WELSDAAL 80C. De Heeg quarter @ WELSDAAL. Take bus 1 or 2 to De Heeg till busstop Roserije (about 12
minutes), follow the bus 250 meters to the first crossing: Langendaal x Steynboeckel. The flat at this crossing (with a blue
door!) is Welsdaal, just walk around the flat to get to the entrance!

streets of the town! Yes you can dress up!

21.03-00.00 Saturday Crazy Carnaval Crawl, meet up 21.03 in Café de Vreede @ Markt 62 (close to
Hoenderstraat / next to Lezzett Grill). Night of the Mooswief.  Pub tour (inside and outside) at Markt
square. The crawl is led by Frank and Osman!

For a little while we will secretly follow a drunken drumband… Two programs today, we will choose one!
PROGRAM 1. Afternoon: Top 111 Festival in Meerssen. The Carnival hitlist of Limburg with all the
top Carnival artists live on stage under the basilica of Meerssen!!! 19:07 train to Heerlen. Illuminated parade in
Valkenburg optional. Late evening: Maastricht – closing ceremony: pulling down the Mooswief @ Vrijthof.
PROGRAM 2. Seven kilometers hiking in Limburg countryside with two Carnival parades: Eijsden in the
afternoon and Eckelrade in the evening. Late evening: Maastricht – closing ceremony: pulling down the
Mooswief @ Vrijthof.

VALKENBURG
MAASTRICHT 14.00-14.30 meetup at HEMA in the central railway station for a cup of tea. We will go by bus
(car, bike?) to Subtropical Swimming Paradise “Mosaqua” (Landsraderweg 11) in GULPEN. With various
pools, slides and steam baths the perfect way to detox! Entrance ticket is 7,95 euro.
