PRESS RELEASE FITCH RATINGS ASSIGNS RATINGS TO THE STATE GUARANTEED NOTES ISSUED BY BMPS ON JANUARY 25 2017

Siena, 6 February 2017 –

Banca Monte dei Paschi S.p.A. announces that on February 6 2017 Fitch Ratings assigned ratings to the State Guaranteed Notes issued by the Bank on January 25 2017, regulated by the Law Decree no. 237/2016. In particular, Fitch assigned a short-term rating of F2 to “Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A. 360 days 0.50% January 20 2018 with State Guarantee ISIN IT0005240491” and assigned a long term rating of BBB+ to “Banca Monte dei Paschi S.p.A. 0.75% January 25 2020 with State Guarantee ISIN IT0005240509”. Since the notes benefit from an unconditional and irrevocable guarantee of the Italian State, their ratings are in line with the ones of the Republic of Italy.
