Milan, 7 December 2016 – After the liability management exercise, with results in line with
expectations, and continuing preparatory activities for the execution of the transaction presented to
the market on 25 October according to the scheduled timing, Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena
S.p.A. considered appropriate – due to the changed reference context – to ask ECB for an
extension of the term of the authorization received, until 20 January 2017.

Furthermore, the Board of Directors appointed Massimo Egidi as new member of the
Remuneration Committee, replacing Alessandro Falciai.
The Committee is composed by: Maria Elena Cappello, Béatrice Derouvroy Bernard, Massimo
Egidi, Stefania Truzzoli and Christian Whamond.
