Key Facts
Italy has made the leap up into the top group of good performing countries. Even tough, the country's
energy policy is still focused on fossil fuels to a large extent, Italy has made its main progress in the categories
renewable energy and emission development. National experts criticize their government as being uninspired
and not very proactive when it comes to climate policy, what is reflected in its mediocre policy rating. Experts
add that the country merely follows initiatives by the European Union rather than taking up responsibility on
its own.
