A significant conceptual shift in approaches to rehabilitation of swallowing impairment is underway. Historically focusing primarily on strength-based training, contemporary thinking suggests that ‘skill-training’ may be more appropriate. This free, 3-hour seminar will present emerging concepts related to the strength vs skill debate, followed by a discussion of potential rehabilitation approaches to accommodate this new thinking. A new approach of skill-training using sEMG biofeedback will be highlighted.
