PERSONAL STATEMENT
Paolo Giardullo has been awarded with the title of PhD in Sociology of Cultural
Phenomena and Normative Processes in 2016 with a thesis in the Italian Disciplinary
sector SPS/10, Sociology of the Environment and Territory. He analysed air quality policies
in a comparative cross-country perspective within SEFIRA FP7 project. As shown by his
publications, he has also developed a sensitivity to Mixed-Method and to the study of
society through techniques for the investigation of web 2.0. Deepening Digital Methods, he
has developed specific skills in analyzing text, in particular the content and discourse,
combining qualitative techniques (through software CAQDAS) and quantitative (topic
detection). Parallel to these activities, he has been involved in various research teams
developing methodological skills both in quality (conducting interviews and focus groups)
and in quantity field (design and implementation of sample surveys and statistical analysis
of secondary data). In continuity with his doctoral studies, as well as his interest in
methodology of social research, he is aiming at investigating environmental issues
combining web data, media analysis and fieldwork.
