FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Artissima 2016
Juliette Blightman – Galerie Isabella Bortolozzi, Berlin
wins the 3rd edition of the Prix K-Way Per4m
Oval, Lingotto Fiere, Torino
Launched by Artissima in 2014, Per4m is the first ever section on the international art fair scene devoted
exclusively to performance art.
Per4m is accompanied by the Prix K-Way Per4m of 10,000 €, which every year is assigned to the most
significant artwork presented in the section. The award reflects not only the importance of Per4m, but also
the special attention paid to this form of experimentation by our partner K-Way.
The 2016 edition of the Prix K-Way Per4m went to Juliette Blightman (Farnham, England, 1980), presented by
Galerie Isabella Bortolozzi (Berlin), with the performance Now, Soon, Wait (2016).

The 2016 edition of Per4m included 6 artists and was curated by the Dutch collective If I Can’t Dance, I Don’t
Want To Be A Part Of Your Revolution (Frédérique Bergholtz a n d Susan Gibb), who counceived a
groundbreaking programme especially for Artissima.
This year’s jury, composed of Franz Bernardelli (independent curator), Ruth Estévez (REDCAT, Los Angeles),
Silvia Fanti (Xing, Bologna), Filipa Ramos (Art Agenda, London), has explained the choice as follows:
“The Jury of the Per4m Prize praises the curatorial project of If I Can’t Dance for their considerate effort to
present performative work within the context of an art fair, which isn’t always generous towards time-based
arts. For her subtle and evanescent approach to memory sharing, which considers the impact of modern
technological devices on the ways in which feelings, moods and atmospheres are conveyed and circulated by
images, clips, sounds, and text messages, the Jury has selected Juliette Blightman’s performance Now, Soon,
Wait (2016). The integration and use of various supports—namely painting, drawing, found footage,
photographs, text, sound and silence, and the artist’s own presence (and absence)—to portray leisure and
intimacy moments, combined with fortuitous encounters on the public space, create a work both ironic and
openly vulnerable, whose undertone character we want to support and praise.”
