punishment under The Indian Medical Council
Act,(102 of 1956) & The Maharashtra Medical
Practitioners Act,1961
RENEWAL OF MMC REGISTRATION
• Under the MMC Act 1965 Sec 23 the Registrar
shall call upon all registered medical
practitioners to make an application to the
registrar for the continuance of their names in
the registry at an interval of every 5 years of
initial registration
• For all MMBS/DMS doctors
• Renewal Procedure has to be done 2 months
prior ( 1-1-12 to 29-2-12 )
Consolidated instructions for renewal of registrations
1) Renewal is compulsory every 5 years
2) Fees Rs 500 + IMA Admnistrative charges,where ever applicable)
3) 12 credit points essential.-Attestation of credit point certificates essential
and can be verified by any of the following authorities.
4) Credit point verification can be done by –
a) MMC Member
b) Registrar MMC
c) Verification comt of MMC accredited associations,eg,IMA
d) Deans-for their own employee drs.
5) Documents to be attached with duly filled application form-a) Photocopy of Previous MMC registration certificate & I-Card.
b) Latest 3 passport size photographs
c) Credit point certificates with attested photocopies
d) Proof of renewal in 2007-I Card/DD Recept/MMC letter
6) Where can the form be submitted—

1.2 Maintaining good medical practice
• 1.2.2 Membership in Medical Society: For the advancement
of his profession, a physician should affiliate with
associations and societies of allopathic medical professions
and involve actively in the functioning of such bodies.
• 1.2.3 A Physician should participate in professional
meetings as part of Continuing Medical Education
programmes, for at least 30 hours every five years,
organized by reputed professional academic bodies or any
other authorized organisations. The compliance of this
requirement shall be informed regularly to Medical Council
of India or the State Medical Councils as the case may be.

Methods of Renewal of

Download the renewal of registration form
from MMC site.
Fill the form and physically submit it
personally/by post/thro authorised
representative,
with a Demand Draft of Rs. 500 favouring
MMC and proof of having completed 12
hours of accredited credit hours of
attendance of CME programs along with
necessary photographs and documents at
MMC office.
Online registration
The E-way: fill the details of renewal on
accessing your individual page on the MMC
site. Upload your photograph and scanned
copy of credit hour certificates, pay your fees
online via credit/debit card (Rs. 500 + service
charge) and receive confirmation of payment
directly online.
Renewal through IMA Branches
Submit the completed renewal form
(download from the net or collect from IMA
office) along with Rs. 500 + administration
charges (to be decided by IMA office) by cash
at IMA Branch and submit the original credit
hour certificates with photocopies,
photographs and necessary documents to
IMA Branch office.
BROAD OUTLINE OF PLAN FOR RENEWAL OF
REGISTRATIONS AT DISTRICT IMA LEVEL
1) IMA should have its own premises with
adequate space,office n safety of records
2) Special comt for this purpose to be constituted
with presd,sec,senior sincere member,presd/sec
elect,representative of med offc,medical teachers
and respective area MMC member,to help n guide.
3) Agency with adequate infrastructure n expertise
to be appointed to outsource the physical and
online work of renewal-Fee sharing model
4) As we will be doing renewals of all
drs,irrespective of ima membership or not,All drs
to be given information and details of
procedure/timings n adress of ima for renewal by
way of emails/sms/paper ads/circulars to civil
surgeon,dean,dho,corporation health off etc (To b
done by agency)
5) Daily rotation duty of 2 comt members at prescribed time with
supervision & review daily by all comt members on agency and daily
work.
6) Undertaking to be taken by state sec from all branch presd,sec to do
this work resposibly
7) Online work to be done where ever posible but physical verification
n renewal work can be done manually also(which will be easier in
many peripheral places)
8) Display procedure n names ,nos of comt members in ima
9) Have separate registers for this,print extra receipt books.Two
seperate receipts to be given,1 of 500 for mmc and 2 nd of ima
administratve expense,eg, Rs 100 from ima members,200 from non
members
10) Contact persons name,nos of state ima n mmc in case of
difficulties.

Dear Colleagues,
Our MMC registration renewal is due upto 29th Feb. 2012. It is mandatory to all doctors
who had renewed their registration in 2007 or have done fresh registration 5 years back.
Failure to renew registration is liable for strict punishment under MMC Act.
Sending herewith renewal application form, data sheet and relevant information.
Please fill the form correctly and submit it to IMA- Dhule with the necessary documents and
fees. Kindly note that incomplete forms / documents and certificates with less than 12 credit
hours will NOT be accepted.
REQUISITE DOCUMENTS :3 latest passport size photographs with name and registration number written on reverse
side.
1 attested photocopy of previous MMC registration certificate.
Original & photocopy of MMC I- card/Receipt of DD/Letter of MMC abt renewal in 2007
Original & photocopies of the CME certificate mentioning number of credit points ( 12 points
compulsory.)
MMC RENEWAL CIRCULAR
• FEES & MODE OF PAYMENT :• MMC Registration Renewal fees Rs. 500/- in cash or demand draft drawn
in favour of Registrar, Maharashtra Medical Council, payable at Mumbai.
• Administrative fees – To be paid in cash
• Rs. 100/- for IMA members

Also we find from our records that many members have not
renewed their registration in 2007. It is mandatory for every
medical practitioner to register with MMC if you are practicing
in the state of Maharashtra. Legally it is a criminal offence and
the courts take a very harsh view if you are not registered with
MMC and you will be bracketed as a quack if your name does
not appear on the Council Registry. MMC has made special
provisions for those members who have not renewed their
registration in 2007. You shall be required to submit necessary
forms and documents along with affidavit and indemnity bond
and monetary penalty to renew your registration (Details are on
MMC site). Those members who have not renewed their
registration in 2007 shall not be able to get renewal in 2012
(since their name does not appear on MMC registry) unless they
have completed all formalities of getting their 2007 renewal
updated.
