Each grouping consists of 4 – 5 students – with Tier 1s, 2s, & 3s evenly distributed. At least
one Tier 1 per group to help any Tier 3 in the group.
All students should have good views of the front of the classroom. They should be able to
see the agenda, the classroom rules and expectations, the current vocabulary lists, and any
work going on at the front white board.
All students should have a reasonable view of the sides of the classroom where helpful
posters and facts are posted.
If the teacher should happen to be sitting down, he/she should be able to see all of the
students and the doorway into the hall.
Students can get distracted by hallway activities & so should not be directly facing the
doorway. Pencil sharpeners should also be located away from the doorway to the hall –
one on either side of the front of the room, so students don’t have to wander far or
across the middle front of the room to sharpen their pencils.
Any daily handouts (for warm-ups, etc) should be available for pick-up off the table near
the doorway as the students come in and take their seats. Student supplies are located
for easy access at the center back of the classroom.
