Hemophilia
A group of bleeding diseases that
evolve as a result of hereditary defects
in the production of proteins necessary
for normal blood coagulation.
Clinical Features:
* purpura
* ecchymotic changes are seen on the facial skin and
the oral mucosa, typically after minor trauma
* hemarthrosis is common
* hemophilia A has a deficiency of Factor VIII and
hemophilia B has a deficiency of Factor IX
* apparent in early childhood
* eruption of deciduous teeth may trigger spontaneous
gingival hemorrhage
