A Few Goals for 2012-2013
Increase the visibility of faculty, students and alumni through
strategic, targeted program development and resource
allocations while also addressing the obstacles challenging the
continued growth of the A&S
-------------------------------------------------------------------------Support and provide leadership for departments to accomplish
their goals in the areas of teaching, research and service
Collaborate across campus to create a new strategy for big
data/analytics and cybersecurity
Create 3 external department reviews
Implement portions of the Global Strategy
Use of Resources – Supporting Research
• Grant Advisors and Facilitators
Experts on NSF (DUE, HRD, SBE and ENG), NIH, DOE funding
opportunities and grant writing were brought to campus
Over 80 Faculty members have participated in programing and one-onone meetings
• Seed funds to jump start a research program
Approximately 5 Faculty members have been supported
• Support to position current research in media and industry
Assistments, Learning Sciences, Nanoscience and Cybersecurity
• Faculty Travel to meet with disciplinary leaders, program
officers, or collaborators in the US or abroad
Approximately 12 Faculty members have been supported
Support teaching excellence through residential summer
workshops - 4 Faculty
Building Relationships
• Global Women’s Leadership Forum
• International Scholar-in-Residence
• New International Visiting Scholar House Policy
• WPI – UMMS Faculty Luncheon and shared program
development
• WPI- MCPHS Faculty Luncheon
• Articulation Agreements
