A Few Goals for 2012-2013
Increase the visibility of faculty, students and alumni through
strategic, targeted program development and resource
allocations while also addressing the obstacles challenging the
continued growth of the A&S

their goals in the areas of teaching, research and service
Collaborate across campus to create a new strategy for big
data/analytics and cybersecurity
Create 3 external department reviews
Implement portions of the Global Strategy
Use of Resources – Supporting Research
• Grant Advisors and Facilitators
 Experts on NSF (DUE, HRD, SBE and ENG), NIH, DOE funding
opportunities and grant writing were brought to campus
 Over 80 Faculty members have participated in programing and one-onone meetings
• Seed funds to jump start a research program
 Approximately 5 Faculty members have been supported
• Support to position current research in media and industry
 Assistments, Learning Sciences, Nanoscience and Cybersecurity
• Faculty Travel to meet with disciplinary leaders, program
officers, or collaborators in the US or abroad
 Approximately 12 Faculty members have been supported
 Support teaching excellence through residential summer
workshops - 4 Faculty

• International Scholar-in-Residence
• New International Visiting Scholar House Policy
• WPI – UMMS Faculty Luncheon and shared program
development
• WPI- MCPHS Faculty Luncheon
