Transcript A poem for the lovers

A Midsummer Night’s Dream
By Kristen Brady, Emma Gross, and
Rachel Tankersley
Once upon a time,
In the beautiful land of Athens,
Two lovers pined
To happily live together.
They wanted to wed,
But Hermia’s father said no.
She must share her bed
With the man he had picked.
Went by the name
Demetrius, but didn’t love her
Merely wanted fame
and fortune from her father
Tall and fair as a daisy
Her name was Helena
She loved Demetrius like crazy
but her love was unreturned.
Lysander and Hermia met in the wood
To pursue their heart’s true desire.
Lysander’s aunt understood
That they needed to be together.
Helena sounded the alarm
And told Demetrius the plan.
He threatened to do her harm
But into the forest she followed.
The fairies, wanting to give aid,
Sprinkled magic dust into their eyes.
But quite the commotion they made.
Causing them a fluster.
The tables had turned;
No longer did they want Hermia.
Now Helena had earned,
the two suitors’ love.
Realizing their mistake
the fairies aimed to fix
and mend the hearts that did break,
righting what was wrong
The next morning the were found
by Theseus and his love
he allowed them to be bound
in holy matrimony
