Sensation
The process of receiving information
from the environment.
Perception
Assembling and organizing sensory
information to make it meaningful.
Stimulus
A change in the environment.
It can be measured!
(size,duration,intensity)
Psychophysics
Develop a quantified relationship
between stimuli from the world, and the
sensory experiences produced by them.
Absolute Threshold
The smallest amount of energy that will
produce a sensation.
Taste
1 teaspoon of sugar in two gallons of
water.
Sight
1 candle from 30 miles.
Touch
A bee wing dropped on an individuals
cheek from a distance of 1/2 inch.
Hearing
The tick of a watch from a distance of
20 feet.
Smell
1 drop of perfume diffused into a three
