Literacy Practicum
Course Information
 Literacy Practicum – typically the semester prior to student
teaching. For more information see:
 Weekly schedule:
 Two days (MW or TR) on campus taking methods courses:
 EDEL 450 – social studies and math methods
 SCED 475 – science methods: specific lecture/lab
 EDEL 445 – intermediate literacy methods
 EDEL 421 – math practicum
 EDEL 446 – literacy Practicum
 EDEL 446 – Literacy Practicum - two full days (opposite days of
methods classes) in an elementary school with an elementary
teacher (mentor)
ESL Information
 ESL concentration requires:
Documentation of foreign language
background
Contact:
Student Teaching - must be in an ESLbased school
Grade Replacement
 Complete form prior to semester’s drop
deadline
 Form is available on Registrar’s website
 Contact Financial Aid regarding guidelines
 Grade Replacement does affect COF Stipend
PRAXIS II
 Register for the PRAXIS Test
 Licensure accepted in 43 states and Guam
 http://www.ets.org/praxis
 Select the correct test
 Approximate cost $120
 Elementary Education: Content Knowledge
 Select Colorado as the state, to avoid registering for the
wrong test
 Select a test location – several in Northern Colorado
 Computer delivered test
 Study materials are available in the STE Office – McKee 216

PRAXIS II Scores
 The deadline to submit passing score for fall
student teaching is February 10th; for spring student
teaching it is September 10th
 Print your PRAXIS II scores immediately
 Score availability expires
 Make several copies
 Or documentation from CDE
 Student teaching placement requires proof of a passing

• If you plan to take a class summer 2016 to complete coursework
prior to student teaching (EDEL 454) please note:
• Students planning to student teach fall 2016 will not be permitted to
register for student teaching (EDEL 454) until grades are submitted for
any summer classes!
