You will have three different partners who
you will meet with. Your will meet with the
different partners at different times during the

Meet with your nebula
partner
Discuss with your partner what you think might be
necessary for stars to form? What might the key
ingredients or events be? How might interstellar
medium be transformed into stars? On you white
board represent what you discussed and be ready to
share with the class.
Student Instruction for using chrome
books for research on Stellar
formation
Read Stage 1 to Stage 3
with your Nebula partner
at each of the following
sites
1. http://pages.uoregon.edu/jimbrau/astr1
22/Notes/Chapter19.html#shok
2. http://ircamera.as.arizona.edu/NatSci10

Astronomy Book pages
• Read pg. 466-469
Meet with your nebula
partner again
Now that you have learned about the early stages of
star formation, discuss what is different from your
earlier ideas. On your white board now draw and
explain how interstellar clouds can become stellar
nurseries.
Meet with your Proto star
Partner
Talk about how you think stars form with your
protostar partner. On your white board, with
your Protostar partner, draw out what you
think star formation steps would be, try to use
at least three steps.
Book pages
Pg. 470-472
Read through stages 4-6
from the following sites,
make sure to read about
nuclear fusion

Book
• On pgs 472 Read Stage 5 and 6
• And pg. 407
Meet with your Proto star
Partner again
Discuss nuclear fusion in stars, why is the
size of the star important?
Draw what you think nuclear fusion looks like
on an atomic scale on your white board.
Now that you have learned about
star formation, meet with your
Main Sequence Star partner and
draw out the formation of stars
on your poster board.
Book pg. 472
Read Stage 7
Read with your Main
Sequence Partner
Read about the Main sequence and how stars
become main sequence stars then review all of
the stages and look through any extra information
available on the sites to make your poster more
complete. Make sure to look at your poster
rubric.
