– Assists in selecting a building contractor.

Applicants may send supplementary information that might help influence
admission into the college, including evidence of creative efforts in design,
drawing, photography, painting or sculpture, letters of recommendation, letters
of intent and interest, prizes and awards won, competitive recognition, etc. This
information must be presented in an 8.5 x 11 inch format and contained in a
binder clearly marked with the applicant's name and contact information. Do not
send original work, only reproductions. The supplementary information should

ARCHITECTURAL REGISTRATION EXAM
• ARE 4.0 Divisions
• The ARE currently consists of seven divisions that can be taken
in any order. Exams include a combination of multiple-choice,
check-all-that-apply, and fill-in-the-blank questions and graphic
vignettes. Individual exam guides and exam practice programs
are available in the Preparing for the ARE section.

Architectural Drafter
• An architectural drafter has responsibilities in several
areas.
– Draws the details of working drawings and makes
tracings from original drawings that the architect
has prepared.
– Often begins as a junior drafter.
• Educational requirements are common.
– Graduation from high school with some courses in
architectural drawing.
– Proficiency with CADD is desirable.
– Further technical study is desirable.

– Calculates the cost of materials and labor
for a building.
– Prepares all of the necessary paperwork
related to the cost of the structure.
