levels of education:
• Associate Degree  vocational high schools
• Bachelor’s Degree  schools and faculties
• Master’s Degree  graduate schools
• Doctoral Degree  graduate schools
Associate Degree
• Designed to provide practice-oriented
technical education,
2 years of study.
Bachelor’s Degree
• Faculties and schools
4 years Bachelor's degree study
• Dentistry and Veterinary
Studies
5 years
• Medicine
6 years
Admission for Bachelor’s Degree
Admission is directly determined by the
level of success at University Entrance
Examination (ÖYS).

Doctoral Degree

by graduate schools

• Established in 1981.
• Functions:
-to coordinate the activities of
teaching, education and scientific
research
-to ensure the establishment and
development of universities
-effective allocation of resources
among Universities
Internationalisation in Turkish
Higher Education
• The Higher Education Council attends
periodically the meetings of European
University Association (EUA, formerly
CRE)
• Head of Higher Education Council has
signed Bologna Declaration in 2001
• Dokuz Eylül University is a member of
EUA since 1990’s
Internationalisation in Turkish
Higher Education
• Higher Education Council has principally
engaged in the following activities:
• Dissemination of information concerning
internationalisation among universities;
• Launching the procedures concerning
“Diploma Supplement”
• Promoting the application of European
Credit Transfer System (ECTS) to ensure
standards and transparency in higher
education.
