Introduction
THE REPUBLIC OF UGANDA
UBOS was formerly the Statistics Department in the
Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic
Development (MFPED)
UBOS was formed by an Act of Parliament in June
1998 to develop and maintain the National
Statistical System (NSS).
The Bureau is the principal data collecting and
disseminating
agency
responsible
for
coordinating, monitoring and supervising the
National Statistical System.

The NSS is the ensemble of all organizations and units
within the country that produce and disseminate official
statistics.
The NSS entails a co-ordinated national effort
aimed at improving the mechanisms and processes
needed to produce relevant statistics.
The NSS consists of:

We are pleased with the UNSD for, therefore, setting the
Agenda for the SEEA
Satellite Accounts is one of the new areas being
developed at the Bureau
Specifically, Environment Statistics is one of the new
important areas, in the Bureau it is housed in the DAES
Therefore, In line with the new focus for the Bureau
“Enhancing Data Quality and Use”.
It is important we produce quality data to enable the
compilation of the EEA
